Benitoite was discovered in San Benito County, California in 1907, and is a special gemstone that was designated as the state gemstone of California due to its beauty and rarity. Even today, there are very few high-quality rough stones that are commercially available, and it is highly popular as a collector's stone all over the world. Its most attractive feature is its bright blue color, which is different from sapphire or tanzanite.
